Delhi: West Delhi Lions have won the title of Delhi (Delhi ) Premier League i.e. DPL 2025 on the strength of captain Nitish Rana’s brilliant half-century. West Delhi Lions defeated Central Delhi Kings by 6 wickets in the final of DPL 2025 played at Arun Jaitley Stadium. Batting first after winning the toss, Central Delhi Kings scored 173 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in 20 overs, in which Yugal Saini made an important contribution. Yugal Saini played an innings of 65 runs off 48 balls.
Nitish Rana played a captaincy innings
In response to Central Delhi Kings’ 173 runs, West Delhi Lions’ innings got off to a very bad start. 3 batsmen returned to the pavilion for 48 runs within 5 overs. After this, captain Nitish Rana took charge and hit a brilliant half-century, taking the Central Delhi bowlers to task. Rana played an innings of 79 runs off 49 balls, hitting 7 sixes and 4 fours. On the basis of this unbeaten innings of Rana, West Delhi achieved the target of 174 runs in 18 overs. West Delhi Lions have become DPL champions for the first time. Earlier, East Delhi Riders won the first DPL title in the year 2024.
West Delhi Lions captain Nitish Rana performed brilliantly with the bat throughout the tournament. He scored 393 runs in 11 matches at an average of 65.50 and a strike rate of 181.94. His best score was 134 runs off 55 balls. He was the fourth-highest run-scorer in DPL 2025. Arpit Rana (495), Sarthak Ranjan (449) and Yash Dhul (435) scored more runs than Nitish Rana.
Defeated East Delhi in the semi-finals
It is worth noting that West Delhi made it to the finals by defeating East Delhi Riders by 8 wickets in Qualifier-2. Ayush Doseja made an unbroken partnership of 86 runs with captain Nitish Rana and led the team to victory. Now they won the title by defeating Central Delhi in the final. This was the second season of Delhi Premier League, which was liked a lot by the fans.
