Aligarh: Gold coins have been found     (found)   from under the ground in a village in Quarsi police station area of Aligarh district of Uttar Pradesh. These gold coins were found during digging for the pipeline. A police officer gave this information on Friday. According to the police, while digging the pipeline, a laborer’s shovel hit a bag full of gold coins buried in the ground, after which this matter came to light.

Coins sent to the jewelry shop
Police Circle Officer (CO) Sarvam Singh said that late on Thursday night, Quarsi police station police received information about the recovery of coins. Immediately a team was dispatched and all the eleven coins were recovered from the spot.” He said the coins were later sent to a jewellery shop where it was confirmed that they were made of gold.

A crowd of people gathered

Police said investigations are still on. Eyewitnesses said a crowd gathered as soon as the news spread. Some people allegedly tried to snatch the coins but the timely intervention of people nearby and local police prevented any trouble.

Some words are written in Persian

According to the police, the coins have been handed over to the concerned authorities for investigation. Pictures shared on social media show some writing in Persian script on the coins, indicating that they are ancient. Police said no conclusion has been drawn yet and the experts’ report is awaited.
