Uttarkashi: 17 workers have been swept away in the flood caused by cloudburst ( cloudburst) late night in the Barkot area of Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand. According to the information, this accident happened around 1 o’clock in the night when 17 workers were working at a construction site. Due to the sudden cloudburst incident, all the workers present at the spot were swept away in the strong current of water, who are being searched. At present, SDRF and police team have reached the spot and rescue operation is going on. The situation remains serious due to heavy rain and debris in the area. The rescue team is searching for the workers buried in the debris.
Local administration, fire brigade and medical team are also deployed on the spot, the area near the spot has been evacuated. Late night, heavy rain and excessive rainfall has also caused damage in the Yamunotri area of Barkot tehsil. According to the preliminary information, a cloudburst incident has occurred on the Yamunotri National Highway late at night due to which many people are stranded nearby.
Major loss due to cloudburst
According to the information, the water level of rivers and streams has increased. Heavy losses are feared at many places. Yamunotri Highway has been blocked at some places. Police, NDRF and SDRF teams are present on the spot. The flow of Yamuna river has stopped due to debris in the drain near Syanachatti, which has posed a threat to the hotels built in the lower area of Syanachatti.
According to the District Disaster Management Center, as soon as the information of heavy rainfall/cloudburst near Silai Wand of Tehsil Badkot was received, a team of SDRF, Police and Revenue Department has been sent to the said place. All the workers engaged in the construction work are reported missing due to the flood. The search operation is going on. The roads near the Yamunotri National Highway Silai Band are also blocked at two-three places, regarding which NH Badkot has been informed.
