Patna: A rapid vaccination campaign is being run across the country to overcome the corona epidemic and so far about 125 crore vaccine doses have been given. In many cities, people have got both doses of corona, while some states have lagged behind in this work. A unique initiative has now been taken in Bihar to promote vaccination, under which vaccine recipients can win household items like TVs, fridges and mixers.
Bihar Health Minister Mangal Pandey said that those taking second dose of corona vaccine in Bihar will be given items like TV, fridge, mixer grinder, cooking gas, ceiling fan, blanket through lucky draw. He said that for the purpose of expediting the second dose of the vaccine, only if the beneficiaries get the vaccination done within seven days of the scheduled date, then they will be rewarded through lottery.
Mangal Pandey said that the lucky draw period has been fixed from November 27 to December 31. Under the award scheme, bumper prizes will be given to one winner in each block and consolation prizes to 10 winners every week for the next five weeks (December 31). Under this, bumper prize will be given to 2670 people at block level, consolation prize to 26700 people, while monthly grand prize will be given to 114 people at district level.
He said that this unique initiative has been started by the Health Department to prevent corona infection and to take the second dose of the vaccine. He told that to prevent corona infection, people have to take both the doses at any cost. A single dose cannot provide protection against infection.
