In this match, the bowlers and batsmen performed brilliantly for the Indian team. Pakistani captain Mohammad Rizwan won the toss and decided to bat first. His decision proved wrong. The entire Pakistani team was all out for just 241 runs. After this, the Indian team easily achieved the target thanks to Virat Kohli’s (Kohli) century.
Kohli scored the first century in the Champions Trophy
Virat Kohli has scored his first century in the history of the Champions Trophy. Earlier in his career, he could not score a century in the Champions Trophy tournament. He scored 100 runs in 111 balls in the match, which included 7 fours. Pakistani bowlers could not stand in front of his batting. Shaheen Afridi, Naseem Shah and Haris Rauf failed miserably to perform well.
Kohli and Iyer showed strength
Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill gave a quick start to the Indian team. Rohit scored 20 runs in 15 balls. Apart from him, Shubman Gill scored 46 runs. Virat Kohli proved to be the biggest hero for the Indian team and scored an unbeaten 100 runs. Shreyas Iyer supported him well and scored 56 runs while hitting a strong half-century. It was because of these players that the Indian team was successful in winning the match. Pakistani bowlers proved to be a flop in front of Kohli and Iyer and could not perform well. Both these batsmen batted very well and did not show any hurry in scoring runs.
Pakistani batsmen performed poorly
The Pakistani team had a good start. When the team had scored 52 runs after 10 overs. But in the powerplay itself, Babar Azam (23 runs) and Imam ul Haq (10 runs) returned to the pavilion. After this, captain Mohammad Rizwan and Saud Shakeel stepped on the crease. Both these players batted very slowly. Rizwan scored only 46 runs in 77 balls, in which he could hit only three fours. Later Shakeel tried to play fast, but by then it was too late. He scored 62 runs in 76 balls. Khushdil Shah scored 38 runs. The Pakistani team could not even play the full 50 overs and was reduced to just 241 runs in 49.4 overs. Kuldeep Yadav took the maximum three wickets for India.
