Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) Nayab Singh Saini took oath as chief minister of Haryana on Thursday, October 17, days after winning the assembly poll in the state, where his party defied exit poll predictions and hit the majority mark of 46 alone.
The counting of votes for Haryana Assembly poll 2024 took place on October 8 after voting for the same, which was earlier scheduled for October 1, ultimately happened on October 5.
Nayab Singh Saini Takes Oath As CM: Nayab Singh Saini on Thursday took oath as chief minister of Haryana for his second term in a ceremony for which Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Union Minister Chirag Paswan and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath were among the attendees. Hours before the swearing-in ceremony, the Supreme Court took strong note of a plea that sought a stay on the event and said it may impose costs on the petitioner for filing such a plea.
Who Else Took Oath: BJP leaders Anil Vij, Krishan Lal Panwar, Rao Narbir Singh, Mahipal Dhanda, Vipul Goel, Arvind Kumar Sharma and Shyam Singh Rana were among those administered the oath of office by Haryana Governor Bandaru Dattatreya. Haryana is expected to have a maximum of 14 ministers, including the chief minister.
