According to news agency PTI, the victims were residents of Kadayam in Tenkasi district and were returning home when the incident occurred. The bus fell into a ditch after the driver lost control of the vehicle and local people, police and members of the fire and rescue services rushed to help the victims and rescue the injured. Most of the injured persons have been sent to nearby Coimbatore for medical treatment.
