Mumbai. The Chief (CM Shinde’s) Minister of Maharashtra announced on May 28, on the birth anniversary of ‘VD Savarkar’, that the newly constructed Bandra-Versova Sea Link will be known as Veer Savarkar. The 140th birth anniversary of freedom fighter Veer Savarkar was celebrated on Sunday. The Chief Minister said that for a long time the state government was trying to change the name of the Bandra-Versova sea link. Earlier it was being said that the government is going to change the name of Bandra-Versova Sea-Link, then the government gave it a new name on the birth anniversary of Veer Savarkar.

Savarkar holds an important place in the politics of Maharashtra, his stature is very big in national politics as well. During the ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’, Rahul Gandhi’s statement against Savarkar was criticized across the country. On the other hand, Eknath Shinde took out ‘Savarkar Gaurav Yatra’ from Thane in April in protest. At the same time, Shiv Sena of Shinde faction had announced that it will start this journey on all 288 assembly seats of the state. Means it will be done in the whole state.

New Parliament House inaugurated on Savarkar’s birth anniversary
Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the new Parliament House of India on the 140th birth anniversary of freedom fighter Veer Savarkar.
