James Anderson becomes captain(James Anderson )

England: James Anderson r    (James Anderson )    etired from international cricket in July last year and since then he has joined the coaching staff of the England men’s cricket team. Despite this, he is playing first class and T20 matches for Lancashire as a player. Actually, after retirement, Anderson had expressed his desire to play T20 cricket and that is why he is playing T20 matches for Lancashire in the Vitality Blast Men’s 2025. Interestingly, he has also taken 10 wickets in 4 matches.

Meanwhile, a big news has come out about Anderson. Lancashire has appointed James Anderson as the captain of their team. He will captain Lancashire in the next two County Championship matches. 42-year-old Anderson will be in the role of interim captain as Marcus Harris is returning to Australia for the birth of his child.

Anderson in great form

Anderson has played only one match in the County Championship this season. He had to be out for the first 6 weeks due to a calf injury, but he is in good form in the Vitality Blast. He is set to lead the team against Kent in Blackpool on Sunday, which will be his first experience of captaining a professional XI. Anderson will become Lancashire’s third red-ball captain this summer.

Lancashire interim head coach Steven Croft told the BBC that Jimmy will lead the team and it is exciting for him and us. He has captained only once and that was in the pre-season tour T20 game in Dubai, so it will be good for Jimmy and the players.

He said that Anderson has a lot to give on and off the field. It will be a proud moment for him. It is obviously not up to Jimmy, but it helps and his presence, especially as captain, is very encouraging for the rest of the players.

Fast bowler with most wickets in Tests

It is worth noting that James Anderson is the fastest bowler to take the most wickets in the history of Test cricket. He has taken 704 wickets in 188 Test matches. He played his last Test match against West Indies at Lord’s in July last year.
