Kanwar Yatra 2025: Haridwar administration’s big decision, liquor shops on the Yatra route will be covered, meat shops will remain closed

Haridwar | Respecting the faith and religious sentiments of Shiva devotees in the month of Shravan, the Haridwar administration has taken an important decision during the Kanwar Mela 2025. Orders have been issued to cover 14 shops of country and English liquor located on the Yatra route with curtains and to keep all meat shops completely closed.

Kanwar fair will run from 11 July to 23 July

This year the Kanwar fair will be held from July 11 to July 23, in which lakhs of Shiva devotees from all over the country will reach Haridwar and take Gangajal and return to their respective destinations. Devotees reach Haridwar in large numbers mainly from Delhi, Meerut, Muzaffarnagar, Baghpat, Shamli, Saharanpur, Gurugram, Panipat and Punjab.

These routes will be affected

The administration said that this decision has been taken keeping in mind the faith of the passengers mainly passing through Haridwar-Delhi Highway, Bahadarabad, Mangalore, Bhagwanpur, Imlekhra and Dhanouri route.

The orders will come into effect from the night of July 10

The district administration and the excise department have clarified that from the night of July 10, 14 liquor shops on the Yatra route will be covered with curtains. Also, all meat shops will remain completely closed. In this regard, the Excise Department has issued written orders to the concerned shopkeepers.
