Peace committee meeting held in Jwalapur police station regarding Muharram, emphasis on coordination between police and society!

Haridwar: With the objective of celebrating the upcoming Moharram festival with peace and harmony, a peace committee meeting was organized under the chairmanship of Circle Officer Jwalapur Mr. Avinash Verma in the premises of Kotwali Jwalapur. Prominent citizens of the Muslim community, Tazia makers, wrestling players and members of the organizing committee were present in large numbers in the meeting.
During the meeting, the Jwalapur Area Magistrate appealed to all the people present to cooperate with the police in ensuring that the festival is celebrated in a peaceful and cordial manner. He said that prior permission would be required for starting any new tradition or procession, etc., and the Moharram traditions should be celebrated in the previous form.
Discussion on problems of previous years, assurances of solution given
The experiences and challenges of the past years were also discussed in the meeting. The administration assured solution to the issues raised by the members of the Muslim community. Issues like traffic system, electricity, water, cleanliness and security were taken into serious consideration.
The community representatives present at the meeting assured the police that the festival of Muharram would be celebrated in a completely peaceful manner, and the community would fully cooperate with the police in preventing any kind of rumour or mischievous activities.
Haridwar is a symbol of communal harmony. It is the responsibility of all of us to maintain social harmony on occasions like Muharram.
