New Delhi: Politics over investigating agencies is nothing new. The round of allegations and counter-allegations has been going on continuously for almost 20 years. The party which is in power calls the investigating agencies independent. Whereas the parties that sit on the opposition benches keep accusing the investigating agencies of working on the agenda of the government. Before 2014, CBI (CBI) was the most talked about thing in the country’s politics. At that time the opposition used to allege that the government was harassing them with the help of CBI. Even the Supreme Court had said for CBI that it works at the behest of the government like a caged parrot. The government changed in 2014. BJP came to power by defeating Congress. The fight between the ruling party and the opposition continues, but now the Enforcement Directorate i.e. ED is discussed more than the CBI. In recent times, ED investigation, arrest of leaders and politics over it is going on.
Recently ED tightened its grip on these opposition leaders
Recently, ED cracked down on opposition leaders in some case related to money laundering. Former Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren, former Bihar CM and former Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav, his son Tejashwi Yadav, Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal, Sharad Pawar’s grandson Rohit Pawar, West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee’s nephew Abhishek Banerjee, Chhattisgarh’s Former CM Bhupesh Baghel, former Haryana CM Bhupinder Singh Hooda and former Jammu and Kashmir CM Farooq Abdullah are examples of this. All these leaders are in the opposition camp.
Hemant Soren- Had to leave CM’s chair in land scam
Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) chief and former CM Hemant Soren is facing ED investigation in the land scam. ED arrested him on Wednesday after a long interrogation. Before his arrest, Hemant Soren had to resign from the post of CM. In his place, Champai Soren, a senior JMM leader and very close to Shibu Soren, has been made the new CM of Jharkhand. Ranchi’s PMLA court had earlier sent Hemant Soren to judicial custody for one day. On Friday, he was sent on 5-day ED remand. ED had asked for 10-day remand. At the same time, the Supreme Court also rejected Hemant Soren’s petition to direct the Ranchi High Court for early hearing in this case.
A case of money laundering is going on against Hemant Soren in the alleged land scam. There is an allegation of occupation of 8.46 acres of tribal land allegedly in the army land scam. At the same time, Hemant Soren is also accused of money laundering related to illegal mining in Sahebganj.
Lalu Yadav and Tejashwi Yadav – Nitish Kumar changed sides in Bihar
The government changed in Jharkhand’s neighboring state Bihar. On January 28, Nitish Kumar left the Grand Alliance and rejoined the NDA. Nitish Kumar’s reasoning behind changing his stance was that he was facing difficulty in working while being in the Grand Alliance. So they returned to where they were. Won’t go anywhere now. Actually, RJD President Lalu Prasad Yadav, the main party of the Grand Alliance of Bihar, and several members of his family are being investigated in the Land for Job Scam case.
Lalu Prasad, Tejashwi Yadav, Rabri Devi, Misa Bharti are accused of land for job scam. ED has interrogated Lalu family members at different times. ED had interrogated Lalu Yadav for 10 hours on 29 January. On January 30, Tejashwi Yadav was interrogated for about 7 hours. Earlier, Rabri Devi and Misa Bharti had also been interrogated in the same case.
Arvind Kejriwal- Two AAP leaders in jail in liquor scam case
The fight in Delhi is AAP vs BJP. The issue is still Delhi Liquor Policy. In this case, AAP’s number 2 leader Manish Sisodia is in Tihar jail. Sanjay Singh has also been arrested. Whereas in another case of money laundering, former Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain remained in jail for a long time. At present he has got bail on medical grounds. Now ED has started tightening the noose on Arvind Kejriwal.
ED has sent summons to Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal for the fifth time in the Delhi liquor scam case. He was to appear on February 2, but he did not appear. Kejriwal joined the protest against BJP. ED had earlier sent summons to Kejriwal on 2 November, 21 December, 3 and 17 January. CM Arvind Kejriwal has been calling it an act of revenge.
Questioning of Sharad Pawar’s grandson
ED has also tightened its grip on Rohit Pawar, grandson of NCP’s Sharad Pawar. ED has interrogated the Maharashtra State Cooperative Bank scam. He has been interrogated twice. For the first time the interrogation took place for 10 hours and on 1st February it took place for 8 hours. He has said that now ED has called him to submit some documents on 8th February. At the same time, in the Khichdi scam, ED has interrogated the brother of Shiv Sena Uddhav faction leader Sanjay Raut.
Action against TMC leaders in Bengal
Heavy politics is going on in West Bengal on ED investigation. What happened on January 5 was surprising. The ED team had reached TMC leader Sheikh Shahjahan’s house to investigate the ration scam. Suddenly the mob attacked the ED team itself. Many officers were injured in this attack. This was the first time that an investigation agency was attacked in this manner. Mamta government minister Jyotipriya Malik was arrested in October in this ration scam. West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s nephew and senior TMC leader Abhishek Banerjee is also on the ED’s radar. bengal school
