New Delhi: Businessman Darshan Hiranandani has become a government witness in the Cash for Query controversy, giving a big blow to TMC MP Mahua Moitra. Hiranandani ( Hiranandani) said on Thursday that he had given money to a TMC MP to raise questions in Parliament about Adani Group. In his affidavit, Hiranandani admitted that he visited Moitra’s parliamentary office to ask questions targeting Adani after state-owned Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) chose the Dhamra LNG import facility in Odisha over his company’s LNG terminal. Hiranandani said he was aware of IOC choosing Dhamra over his company’s LNG terminal. He said, ‘Based on this information, Moitra drafted some questions, which may have elements of embarrassing the government by targeting the Adani Group; Questions that she could raise in Parliament.’ Hiranandani claimed, ‘She shared her e-mail ID with me as an MP, so that I could send her information and she could raise questions in Parliament. I accepted their proposal.’ Hiranandani claimed that Moitra was happy with the response she received from the first set of questions related to the Adani Group. Hiranandani said Moitra then “requested” him to continue his cooperation in her attacks on the Adani Group. Hiranandani said, he ‘provided me with his Parliament login and password so that I can post questions directly on his behalf if required.’
