Strait of Hormuz: Iran has hit back at US President Donald Trump’s statement regarding the Strait of Hormuz            ( Hormuz) . Iran has dismissed Trump’s claim. Trump had stated that the US has total control over the Strait of Hormuz. Responding to this, Iranian officials said on Thursday, August 13, that the Strait of Hormuz remains under Iran’s management and control.

Hossein Taeb, head of the Basij militia of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), said in an interview with Iranian state television that the Strait of Hormuz is “under the management and control of the Islamic Republic” and that the country is proceeding with full security.

What did Araghchi say about Trump’s claim?
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi also criticized the US claim. He stated on the social media platform X that the US has long been making miscalculations due to intelligence failures. He described the US stance regarding the Strait of Hormuz—much like its past stance on war against Iran—as a similar major misconception.

Meanwhile, Iranian lawmakers have also stated that restrictions on passing through the Strait apply specifically to ships linked to the US and Israel. Behnam Saeedi, a member of the Iranian parliament’s National Security Committee, said on state television that ships linked to Israel and the US would not be permitted to pass through the Strait of Hormuz. He stated that Israeli ships would not have the right to pass through Hormuz under any circumstances, “whether in war or peace.” Trump Claimed ‘Total Control’
This statement from Iran comes a day after Trump claimed that the US had gained control over the Strait of Hormuz. On Wednesday, Trump stated that the US has complete control over the Strait of Hormuz and intends to maintain it. Describing the US naval blockade as a “wall of steel,” he asserted that Iran could do nothing against it. However, Iran has consistently disputed these claims made by the US.
