Greece: A beautiful village named Metamorphosis, with a population of 600, is situated on the sea shore. The small village, located 30 kilometers from the municipality of Polygyros, becomes quite attractive due to the combination of olive and pine trees as well as mountains and sea. Beyond all this, this village has a different story to say. The village has been bearing the brunt of many natural disasters, but recently the flood caused by Hurricane Daniel this year has greatly affected the village, the situation is such that the people (, people ) of the village do not want to live here.
There have been severe floods here in the years 1953 and 1994, but this year on September 4 and 7, Cyclone Daniel, which struck the Mediterranean Sea, submerged this village. All the buildings of the village were submerged in water.
18 people died in the terrible cyclonic storm that hit the village, out of which 2 people died by drowning in the flood waters in the village.
Now the people of the village are voting to settle in another city, Palamas. In this, 142 people of the village are in favor while 14 people are against. Villagers and the community president say they cannot afford to wait for efforts to tackle the floods.
Community president Petros said that the voting of the people of our village shows that people do not want to face more tragedies by staying here.
The Metamorphosi community has submitted its voting report to the Palamas Municipal Authority. He says that we want to convey our point to the government.
People of the community say that there should be a technical study of Metamorphosis village. The reason for frequent floods here needs to be found out, its geographical location should be investigated.
