Magh month: Magh month is considered a very holy month. This month is related to Lord Krishna. According to the Puranas, the word Magh is derived from ‘Madh’ which comes from the name Madhav of Lord Krishna. Taking bath in Ganga in the month of Magh gives great virtue. Besides this, Kalpavas is also performed at Triveni Sangam in Prayagraj in this month. It is believed that Kalpavas brings newness in the body and soul of a person. Many fasts and festivals are also observed in the month of Magh.(Magh) 

How long is Magh month?
According to the Hindu calendar, Magh month is the 11th month of the Hindu calendar. This year the month of Magh is starting from 26th January i.e. today and the month of Magh will end on 24th February. Worshiping Lord Vishnu and Mother Lakshmi in the month of Magh is very beneficial.

What to do and what not to do in the month of Magh – Donating in the month of Magh has great importance. Donate whatever is possible as per your capacity. – Donating is beneficial but neither donate under anyone’s pressure nor donate with a bad heart. Neither tell anyone about the donation after donating, nor be proud of it. – Donate to a person who is really in need. Also, give only good and usable things in donation. – Never give meat, liquor, sharp things, iron things in donation. – Do not consume tamasic things even by mistake in the month of Magh. – Do not sleep late in the month of Magh. Also, with the beginning of this month, the weather starts changing, that is, the cold starts decreasing and spring season starts arriving. Therefore, take bath with normal water instead of hot water. Consuming sesame and jaggery in the month of Magh proves to be very beneficial. – Offer yellow flowers and Panchamrit to Lord Krishna in the month of Magh. After this recite ‘Madhurashtak’.
