New Delhi: Former Congress President Rahul Gandhi says that if his government comes to power, he will conduct caste census. At a program organized here in the national capital, he said that this will not be just a caste census, it will be an economic survey. Meaning, there will be a survey of every organization in India in whose hands how much money is there. This will enable us to know what is the condition of which class of people.
Rahul Gandhi said that through caste census the whole country will know where the wealth of India is and in whose hands it is. How much money is in the hands of backward people, how much in the hands of Dalits, how much money is in the hands of poor general class and women. He said that we have clearly written in our manifesto that we will end the Agneepath scheme. (scheme)
He was addressing the youth from the Nyaya Manch organized by the Congress Party. During this, regarding the Agneepath scheme, Rahul said that our 1.5 lakh youth who have completed the entire army process should get some compensation, some way should be found for them. He claimed that the plan was not made in consultation with the stakeholders.
“Don’t want to give martyr status…”
Rahul said that earlier OBCs, Dalits and poor common people used to get jobs in the public sector, could join the army and used to get pension. He said that the purpose of Agneepath is that they do not want to give pension to poor people, do not want to give them martyr status, do not want to provide them canteen facilities. The rich people will get all this but the young people who are ready to become martyrs are becoming of two types – one is the fire warrior who will be shot and he will be told that he is not a martyr. Whereas a normal soldier who gets pension will get the status of martyr.
“…So what will Agni Veer think?”
Rahul Gandhi said, imagine if there is a war with China, then Agni Veer and an ordinary soldier will be fighting, then what will Agni Veer think? Agni Veer will think that if anything happens to me, no one will take care of my family. At the same time, if anything happens to an ordinary soldier, his family will get pension and his family will be taken care of. The morale of the army was destroyed right here. This is where the army was divided. So we are going to end Agneepath.
In response to the questions asked by the youth here regarding employment, Rahul Gandhi said that we have promised ‘first job is sure’ in our manifesto. One gets the right to employment under MNREGA. The government gives the right to work as a labourer, now we are going to give the right to the first job to the youth of India. Graduate and diploma holders will get this right. They will be given Rs 8,500 per month through apprentice. With this the youth will get entry into the job market. Rahul said that if the youth ask for a job from the government for one year, then the government will have to give that job. This is an idea of the Congress Party.
Rahul Gandhi said that we will bring strict laws to solve the problem of paper leak in recruitment examinations. Along with this, private companies will not be able to take these examinations. Only government agencies will take the exam.
