New Delhi: Big news of this time has come out from sources regarding caste census. The date of caste census  (caste census)   has been found out. Caste census can start from 1 March 2027.

How many phases will there be?

According to sources, caste census will be conducted in 2 phases. Caste census will start in 4 states first. In the first phase, caste census will be done in Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh. It will start from October 1, 2026.

At the same time, in the second phase, caste census will start in all other states and union territories. It will start from March 1, 2027. That is, caste census will start in the plains from March 2027 and caste census will start in the hilly states from October 1, 2026.

The same plan was there for Census 2021

Census 2021 was also proposed to be conducted in two phases, the first phase was to be conducted during April-September 2020 and the second phase in February 2021. All preparations for the first phase of the census to be conducted in 2021 were completed and field work was scheduled to start in some states/union territories from April 1, 2020. However, the census work had to be postponed due to the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic across the country.

Recently the government had taken this decision

The government had recently decided that it would conduct a caste census. In fact, the caste census, which was conducted regularly from 1881 to 1931, was stopped in the first census of 1951. In the year 2011, caste data was collected under the Socio-Economic and Caste Census (SECC) but this data was not fully used.
