Wanindu Hasranga completes hat-trick

Sharjah. Wanindu Hasaranga took a hat-trick in the T20 World Cup. He did this feat against South Africa in a T20 World Cup match. Sri Lankan leg-spinner Hasaranga completed a hat-trick in 2 overs in the match. However, Sri Lanka got defeated in the match. This is the second hat-trick of the current T20 World Cup. Earlier, Ireland’s fast bowler Curtis Kampfer had done this feat against the Netherlands. Sri Lanka scored 142 runs in the match. South Africa achieved the target for the loss of 6 wickets with one ball remaining.

Wanindu Hasanrga dismissed Aiden Markram on the last ball of the 15th over. He then returned to bowl in the 18th over. He completed the hat-trick by dismissing captain Temba Bavuma on the first ball and Dwayne Pretorius on the second ball. Earlier in the 2007 T20 World Cup, Australia’s fast bowler Brett Lee took a hat-trick against Bangladesh. He has also taken a hat-trick in One Day Internationals.

Wanindu Hasaranga is only the fourth bowler in the world to take a hat-trick in both T20 and ODI formats. Earlier, in addition to Sri Lanka’s Lasith Malinga and Thisara Perera, Australia’s Brett Lee has done this. That is, he is the third bowler from Sri Lanka to do so.
