Violence again in JNU, many students badly injured


New Delhi: The students of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad were assaulted by the Left students of Jawaharlal Nehru University. ABVP’s JNU unit has claimed that many of their workers were badly injured in the late night fight. On the other hand, JNU Students Union President and Students Federation of India leader Aishe Ghosh has blamed the ABVP for the attack.

According to ABVP, their meeting was being held in the Student Activity Room of JNU, in protest against which Left students reached there at 9.45 pm on Sunday night and after opposing the ABVP meeting, Left students beat up.

According to a statement issued by the ABVP, several ABVP students have been badly injured in the attack by Left students, including female students and seriously injured students are being treated at AIIMS.

According to the ABVP, Left students also attacked women and differently-abled people. Sridevi, who was studying in JNU, was thrashed on the neck of Sridevi, a student with disability, Ankit was beaten up on the neck by leftist students. In the attack by Left students, students named Kanhaiya and Abhishek have been seriously injured and both have suffered fractures.

After the incident, Aishe Ghosh, leader of Students Federation of India and president of JNU Students Union, issued a statement saying, “ABVP goons spread violence in JNU today. Time and again these criminals have resorted to violence on students and disrupted campus democracy. Will the JNU administration still remain silent? Will no action be taken against the goons?’ Along with this, he also shared pictures of students injured in the attack.
