According to media reports, ongoing ceasefire negotiations have now stalled after Iran flatly refused to meet with US officials in Pakistan. Reports from US media indicate that the talks—being mediated by regional nations, including Pakistan—have remained inconclusive. Iran has explicitly informed the mediators that it will not meet with US representatives in Islamabad in the coming days.
Prospects for an Agreement Dim for Now
A report in *The Wall Street Journal* states that Iran has termed the US demands “unacceptable.” This makes it clear that the likelihood of any agreement between the two nations is currently extremely low.
