Two soldiers including an army officer martyred in blast near LoC

Srinagar. Two Army personnel, including an officer, were killed when an explosion occurred during patrolling near a forward post along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri district on Saturday. The officers provided this information.

Officials said the blast took place in Kalal area of ​​Nowshera sector when an army column was on patrol to take stock of measures to prevent infiltration of terrorists from across the border.
Two jawans, including a lieutenant, were seriously injured in the incident, who were immediately rushed to a nearby military hospital, where they later died, he said. Officials said that the army has laid landmines at the place where the blast took place to prevent infiltration from across the border.

It was not immediately known what the type of the blast was, he said. However, the possibility of IEDs being planted by terrorists to target the patrol party also cannot be ruled out. An army spokesman confirmed the blast and said further details were awaited.
