Two crore gift to ‘Matoshree’, doubts on many transactions;

MUMBAI: Income Tax Department officials involved in the investigation of Shiv Sena leader and BMC Standing Committee chairman Yashwant Jadhav have found a diary in which suspicious transactions have come to the fore. Officials say that two such transactions have been found in this diary, which raises doubts. Officials said a watch worth Rs 50 lakh and another gift worth Rs 2 crore have been given to ‘Matoshree’. Please tell that Matoshree is the residence of Uddhav Thackeray, which is located in Bandra, Mumbai. However, Shiv Sena leader Yashwant Jadhav termed it wrong and said that he had written ‘Matoshree’ in the diary for his mother.

When asked a question in this regard, Jadhav said that in the first entry, what is the matter of Rs 50 lakh watch, in fact he had distributed it on his mother’s birthday. Apart from this, in the memory of his mother, he has talked about distributing things worth Rs 2 crore to the needy in Gudi Padwa. He said that he had written Matoshree for this gift distribution and an amount of Rs 2 crore was recorded in front of him. This diary was found by the Income Tax Department in a raid conducted on February 25. Yashwant Jadhav is the chairman of the standing committee of BMC, while his wife Yamini Jadhav is the MLA from Byculla assembly seat.

Some contracts of BMC are also being investigated by the Income Tax Department. The transactions are being carried out by Newshock Multimedia Private Limited Company, which is owned by the contractor Bimal Agarwal. IT officials suspect that Yashwant Jadhav favored Bimal Agarwal for several contracts in lieu of a bribe of Rs 30 crore.

Not only this, Yashwant Jadhav had also bought 31 flats in Byculla through Newshock Multimedia Pvt Ltd. Apart from this, 40 more properties related to Jadhav are suspected, which are being investigated. It is being said that the Income Tax Department is also investigating the contracts awarded by BMC since April 2018. Yashwant Jadhav has been the chairman of the standing committee during this period. In such a situation, all the contracts of BMC are being investigated by the agency.
