Washington: Tensions between the US and Iran have once again reached a dangerous level. US President Donald Trump has stated clearly that the US will continue its strikes on Iran and act with even greater severity than before. Trump’s statement comes at a time when Iran has claimed to have shot down a US military ( military) helicopter near the Strait of Hormuz. Speaking to reporters in the Oval Office at the White House, Trump said, “We will strike Iran, and we will strike very forcefully.”
‘We have every right to take action’
Trump stated that the downing of a US Apache helicopter by Iran constitutes sufficient grounds for US military action. He said, “After the helicopter incident, I feel we have every right to take action.” He noted that the US has already carried out strikes against Iran and that military operations will continue. Trump added, “We targeted them forcefully yesterday. We will take strong action today as well.”
Trump also presses on the nuclear deal
Amidst the military action, Trump claimed that the draft agreement between the US and Iran is fully prepared, and only Iran’s signature remains. He said, “The deal is fully ready. They just need to sign the document. We have been working with Iran for several months. It is a good deal.” Trump emphasized that this agreement grants Iran no right to build nuclear weapons; instead, it completely prevents them from ever acquiring nuclear weapons in the future.
Iran’s oil exports also targeted
Trump claimed that the US is removing “millions of barrels of oil” from Iran out of the market every night. He mentioned that details of this operation had not been made public until now. Trump said, “Now I can tell you, because they have figured it out too. It was very difficult for me to keep this a secret.” “Once all this is over, oil prices will return to their previous levels.” It is worth noting that the escalating military attacks between the US and Iran have heightened tensions across West Asia.
