Delhi: The impact of the US-Israel and Iran wars is now visible on airfares  ( airfares.)  . Air India has announced a fare increase for both domestic and international flights. Due to the sharp increase in jet fuel prices, Air India will impose a fuel surcharge of ₹399 on domestic flight tickets from March 12th.

International flight tickets also become more expensive.
In addition, Air India will also impose a fuel surcharge on international flight tickets. This will result in an increase in domestic and international flight fares. These new increased prices will come into effect on Thursday, March 12th.

The reason for the increase in airfares is the US-Israel and Iran war in the Middle East. The war has led to a sharp increase in jet fuel prices. Amid the ongoing war in the Middle East, the airline has released a fixed fare range, which will be implemented in three phases.

Fuel surcharge of ₹399 per ticket
A statement issued on Tuesday said that the new surcharge system will be implemented in a phased manner. In the first phase, a fuel surcharge of ₹399 per ticket will be applicable on domestic and South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) flights from March 12.

Fuel surcharge in dollars will be applicable on international flights
Air India’s statement said that the surcharge will be $10 for flights to West Asia, $90 for Africa, and $60 for Southeast Asia. All these changes will be effective from March 12, including flights to Singapore. Currently, there is no fuel surcharge on Singapore services.

Fuel surcharge will be implemented in a phased manner
“The Air India Group today announced a phased increase in fuel surcharges on its domestic and international routes, necessitated by the sharp increase in jet fuel prices due to the ongoing conflict in the Middle East,” the statement said.
