Melbourne. Sri Lankan pacer Kasun Rajita has been included in the squad for the T20 World Cup as a replacement for injured Dushmanta Chamira. Along with this, the International Cricket Council has approved the replacement of three other players. The technical committee of the tournament has approved the replacement of a total of 4 players.
Rajita will replace pacer Chamira, who has been ruled out of the T20 World Cup due to a left calf muscle injury. Rajita is currently in Sri Lanka and will leave for Australia as soon as possible. Sri Lanka’s Dhanushka Gunathilak has a hamstring strain in his left leg, which will be replaced by the team’s reserve player Ashen Bandara.
UAE and England Ridge Topley also replaced by injury
Reserve Fahd Nawaz will replace injured Jawar Farid in the United Arab Emirates squad. Jawar has got a fracture in his left leg. England’s Tymal Mills has been included in place of Reece Topley, who has injured his left ankle and Topley is still in Australia.
To replace any player in the team, the approval of the tournament’s technical committee is required, only after that the player can be officially included in the team. A replacement for a player requires the approval of the Event Technical Committee before the replacement player can be officially added to the team.
