New Delhi. India will host the meeting of Foreign Ministers of Quad countries in Delhi today. The meeting will be chaired by India’s External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, which will be attended by US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, Japanese Foreign Minister Yoshimasa Hayashi and Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wang. In this meeting, the situation in the Indo-Pacific region can be discussed in the background of China’s increasingly aggressive attitude.
After the meeting of the foreign ministers of the Quad countries held in New York in September last year, these countries will discuss furthering their agenda. Apart from the issue of the Indo-Pacific region, regional issues will also be discussed in this.
The focus will remain in the Indo-Pacific region
The Ministry of External Affairs said in a statement about this that India will host the next meeting of the foreign ministers of the Quad on March 3 in New Delhi. It has been said that in this meeting, there will be an opportunity for the ministers to continue the talks held in their last meeting in New York in September 2022.
“They will exchange views on recent developments in the Indo-Pacific region and on regional issues of mutual interest based on their vision of an open, free and inclusive Indo-Pacific region,” the Ministry of External Affairs said. EAM will also review the progress made by the Quad in the implementation of initiatives aimed at advancing its constructive agenda and addressing contemporary priorities of the region.
After this meeting, the four foreign ministers will also participate together in the forum of Raisina Dialogue on Quad issues. Here the Foreign Ministers of America, Japan, Australia and India will participate in the panel discussion on The Quad Squad: Power and Purpose of the Polygon at 9:10 am.
