The minister married the Chief Minister’s daughter, the leader said – ‘illegitimate’

New Delhi. An Indian Union Muslim League leader made objectionable remarks regarding the marriage of Kerala’s Public Works Department minister PA Mohammed Riyas and Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan’s daughter Veena Vijayan. The IUML leader said that this marriage is illegitimate. After this statement of the IUML leader, the politics of Kerala has become hot.

According to the information, a rally was organized by the Muslim League in Kozhikode on Thursday evening to protest the stand of the ruling Left Democratic Front in the state on the appointments of the Waqf Board. Addressing the rally, party’s state secretary Abdur Rahman Kallayi urged the league workers to show courage to emphatically say that Riyas’ marriage to Veena last year was “illegitimate”.

Let us tell you, Veena and Riyas got married in June last year. The marriage took place when Riyas was the national president of the Democratic Youth Federation of India. Riyas was elected MLA from Bepore assembly seat of Kozhikode in the assembly elections held in April this year. He was inducted into the state cabinet headed by his father-in-law Vijayan.

Illegal relationship told to marriage
Speaking on the importance of Islamic principles in the lives of Muslims, Abdur Rahman in his speech said that the former All India President of DYFI belongs to his area. He said, ‘Who is his wife? Is this a marriage? This is an illegitimate relationship. He urged the IUML workers to show courage to say it.

The Muslim League workers involved in the rally also raised slogans against Chief Minister Vijayan in a casteist tone. Abdur Rahman’s comments were condemned on social media in Kerala, after which he had to apologize. Expressing regret on Friday, Abdur Rahman said in his speech he was only referring to religious outlook on personal life and it was not intended to hurt anyone’s sentiments.

The DYFI criticized the Muslim League for the leader’s controversial remarks against Riyas and Veena and urged the party to get its leader’s mental state checked.
