London. Pakistan’s Information Minister Maryam Aurangzeb was in trouble when expatriate Pakistanis surrounded a coffee shop in London. People followed him and entered the coffee shop. A video related to this incident is becoming increasingly viral on social media. In the video going viral, you can see how the Overseas Pakistani Minister is surrounded by Maryam. Pakistanis present in the coffee shop were criticizing the minister for traveling abroad amid the devastation caused by the floods in Pakistan. Pakistanis chasing Maryam, daughter of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, chanted ‘chorni, chorni (thief, thief)’ on the streets.
Maryam did not react to protests by overseas Pakistani nationals and kept herself busy on her mobile phone. According to the report of ‘Dawn’, the ministers of the Pakistani government came to the rescue of Maryam regarding this incident. He said that Maryam handled the situation with restraint. According to Dawn, Aurangzeb was harassed in a coffee shop by supporters of former Pak PM Imran Khan.
A woman was telling Aurangzeb that there are big claims being made on television but here she does not wear a dupatta on her head. Responding to the video shared by Pakistani journalist Syed Talat Hussain, Aurangzeb said that he is saddened to see such behaviour. Imran Khan’s politics of hatred and partition has had an impact on the people of our Pakistan. The minister also said that she stayed and answered “every question” of the furious crowd, Dawn reported.
Former Finance Minister Miftah Ismail saluted Aurangzeb for showing restraint in the face of such harassment and baseless lies. Defense Minister Khawaja Asif said on Twitter that even after moving to Britain, the timing of some sections has not changed, foreign Pakistanis are representing the lowest strata of our society.
