New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday made a strong statement on the country’s progress and future plans. At the ‘ET World Leaders Forum 2025’, he said that India is soon going to become the third largest economy in the world and the process of reforms will continue to make India a developed nation by 2047. On this occasion, he laid special emphasis on India’s achievements in the space sector and announced, ‘The time is not far when we will have our own space station ( space station) in space.’ PM Modi also said that India will bring its first domestically manufactured semiconductor chip by the end of 2025 and the country is making rapid progress towards developing ‘Made-in-India’ 6G network.
‘Space has also been opened for the private sector’
The Prime Minister greeted the countrymen on the occasion of National Space Day and told the story of India’s progress in the space sector. He said, “Today is also National Space Day. I wish all of you a Happy National Space Day. Before 2014, space missions were limited and their scope was also limited. Today in the 21st century, when every big country is exploring the possibilities of space, how can India stay behind, so we also made reforms in the space sector and opened it for the private sector.’
‘More than 50 missions completed in the last 11 years’
The Prime Minister told through statistics that in the 35 years from 1979 to 2014, India had completed only 42 space missions, but in the last 11 years, more than 50 missions have been successfully completed. He said, ‘Today India’s space sector is seeing the success of these reforms. In the year 2014, there was only one space startup in India, today there are more than 300.’ The Prime Minister also highlighted India’s economic strength. He said that India is the fastest growing major economy in the world today. He said, ‘We are soon going to be the third largest economy in the world.’
’22 lakh formal jobs added in a month’
PM Modi said that despite the Covid pandemic, India’s fiscal deficit has come down to 4.4 percent. He said that the position of banks has strengthened, inflation is at its lowest level, interest rates are low, and forex reserves are also strong. The Prime Minister said, ‘Every month lakhs of domestic investors are investing thousands of crores of rupees in the capital market through SIP.’ Citing the EPFO data of June 2025, the Prime Minister said that 22 lakh formal jobs were added in a month, which is the highest figure so far. He said that retail inflation is at its lowest level since 2017.
‘Next generation GST reforms will be completed before Diwali’
Referring to GST reforms, Prime Minister Modi said that the next generation GST reforms will be completed before this Diwali, which will make the GST law more simple and reduce prices. Taking a dig at the policies of the previous governments, the Prime Minister said, ‘We have been hearing a line repeatedly in common parlance, it is said ‘Missing the bus’. That is, an opportunity comes and it goes away. Earlier governments in our country have left many such buses of opportunities for technology and industry.’ He said that earlier governments were entangled in vote bank politics and their thinking was limited to elections.
