Tehreek-e-Hurriyat also banned(Tehreek)

Delhi: The UAPA tribunal has justified the 5-year ban imposed on Muslim League Jammu and Kashmir (Masrat Alam faction) and Tehreek-e (Tehreek) -Hurriyat. Let us tell you that in the year 2023, both the organizations were banned by the Union Home Ministry.

A tribunal constituted under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) on Saturday justified the Center’s decision to impose a five-year ban on Muslim League Jammu and Kashmir (Masrat Alam faction) and Tehreek-e-Hurriyat, Jammu and Kashmir. A one-member tribunal headed by Delhi High Court Judge Sachin Dutta was constituted in January under the stringent anti-terror law UAPA to assess whether there were “sufficient reasons” behind the ban.

Muslim League banned for 5 years

The Muslim League Jammu and Kashmir (Masrat Alam faction) was banned by the government for five years under UAPA on December 27, 2023 for being involved in anti-national and separatist activities in the Union Territory. Tehreek-e-Hurriyat, founded by separatist leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani, was banned for five years on December 31, 2023. Geelani has died. The organization was banned for promoting terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir and spreading propaganda against India. Additional Solicitor General Aishwarya Bhati and advocate Rajat Nair represented the government before the tribunal.

Tehreek-e-Hurriyat also banned

Let us tell you that Tehreek-e-Hurriyat has been banned for 5 years on December 31, 2023. It was founded by separatist leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani. Now Geelani has died. The organization was banned for promoting terrorism and separatism in Jammu and Kashmir and spreading propaganda against India. Additional Solicitor General Aishwarya Bhati and advocate Rajat Nair presented the government’s side before the tribunal. Let us tell you that on 28 February 2019, the Union Home Ministry also banned Jamaat-e-Islami Jammu and Kashmir.
