Washington: US President Donald Trump has once again dropped a tariff (Tariffs ) bomb. Trump has announced tariffs on Britain, Denmark, and other European countries over Greenland. President Trump said on Truth Social that the US has subsidized Denmark and the European Union for many years by not imposing tariffs. Trump further said that after centuries, the time has come for Denmark to give something back.
Strong measures must be taken – Trump
Trump said, “World peace is at stake. China wants Greenland, and Denmark can’t do anything about it.” Trump further added, “Strong measures must be taken so that this potentially dangerous situation ends as quickly and unequivocally as possible.”
Tariffs to be implemented from February 1
US President Donald Trump has announced new tariffs for several countries exporting goods to the US, effective February 1. Trump says these rules will remain in effect until an agreement is reached for the complete and total purchase of Greenland by the United States.
Tariff to increase to 25 percent from June 1
Writing on social media, Trump said that a 10 percent tariff will be imposed on all types of goods sent to the US from countries including Denmark, Norway, Sweden, France, Germany, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, and Finland. He wrote on Truth Social that this will be increased to 25 percent on June 1. This tariff will have to be paid until a deal is reached for the complete purchase of Greenland.
