Dubai. Saudi Arabia and Thailand have become friends again after 30 years. Saudi ordered the resumption of full diplomatic ties on Tuesday. The relationship between these two countries was over due to the theft of a diamond. Even the conversation between them was closed. However, now the agreement has been reached again between the two countries.
In fact, in 1989, 91 kg of jewelry and other valuable gems were stolen from the palace of a Prince Faisal bin Fahd. The theft was done by a Thai national, Kryangkrai Tekamong, who was working as a servant there. After the theft, he hid the jewelry in a vacuum cleaner bag in the palace. It also contained a valuable 50-carat blue diamond.
Kryangkrai was able to send the jewels to his home in the Lampang province of Thailand, but it proved difficult for him to dispose of the jewels. He started selling jewelry at low prices, but after a few days he came under suspicion. The Royal Thai Police launched an investigation and recovered the jewelry and Kryangkrai was sentenced to seven years in prison.
The two countries took this decision during the official visit of Thailand’s Prime Minister Prayut Chan-ocha to Saudi Arabia. This is the highest level meeting between the two countries since the turmoil over the 1989 developments. Saudi Arabia reduced the level of diplomatic relations with Thailand due to this theft incident. Many mysterious murders took place due to this theft. This is known as the ‘Blue Diamond’ case.
Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman held talks with Prayut and set aside the theft case to strengthen economic, security and political ties between the countries, the official Saudi Press Agency said in a statement late Tuesday after meetings at the royal palace. agreed upon.
