Delhi: The Election Commission has taken a tough stand on the allegations of Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi. The Chief Electoral Officer of Karnataka has issued a notice to Rahul Gandhi,   ( Rahul Gandhi)  asking him to produce the documents on the basis of which he made allegations in a press conference in Delhi on August 7.

Rahul Gandhi had claimed in his press conference that according to the records of the Election Commission, a woman from Karnataka, Shakun Rani, has voted twice. He also showed some documents in support of this claim, which he described as Election Commission data.

CEO Karnataka’s notice

The notice issued by the Chief Electoral Officer of Karnataka reads, “You said in your presentation that this data is of the Election Commission and you also said that in the record given by the polling officer, a woman named Shakun Rani has voted twice.” The notice said, “In the investigation, Shakun Rani has said that she has voted only once, not twice, as you are alleging. Initial investigation has also revealed that the ticked document you showed was not issued by the polling officer.” The notice further said, “Therefore, you are requested to provide the documents on the basis of which you have claimed that Shakun Rani or anyone else has voted twice, so that the matter can be investigated properly.”

Election Commission’s strict stance
The Election Commission has again reiterated its strict stance in this matter. The Commission has said that Rahul Gandhi should either give a declaration in this matter in time or apologize to the country for his allegations.
