Jammu. Pakistani jails often make headlines for the treatment of Indian prisoners. Pakistan’s Kot Lakhpat Jail is already in discussion. The jail has a capacity of 4 thousand prisoners, but at present it has 17 thousand prisoners. First Chamel Singh and then Sarabjit Singh, both Indian prisoners were attacked and killed. After the death of both, 36 other Indian prisoners lodged in Kot Lakhpat Jail are very scared. Now recently, Shambhunath, who was released from Gora jail, is being discussed. Shambhunath, a resident of Jammu, had accidentally crossed the border. There Pakistani Rangers caught him and tortured him everyday for many years in Gora jail.
Shambhunath has been released after spending 13 years and 6 months in jail. He has shared the horrifying story of the jails of Pakistan after his release. According to him, such torture was given in the jail that due to this the mental balance of 12 prisoners has deteriorated. They are all admitted in a mental hospital. There are also four women prisoners, their condition cannot be said.
Even if a terrorist who has crossed the border in India is injured, our army saves his life by giving him blood. Recently, Tabrak Hussain, who had crossed the border from Nowshera, was admitted to the Army Hospital in Rajouri in an injured condition. At the same time, the matter of Pakistan is something else. There the Indian prisoners in the jail are hated by the rest of the prisoners and they are treated worse than animals. The same happened with Shambhunath, who was lodged in Gora jail.
Shambhunath had gone across the border from RS Pura sector
85-year-old Satya Devi is overjoyed to see her son Shambhunath alive in Simbal village, just 10 km from Jammu. Shambhunath was imprisoned in Pakistan for 13 years. During this the father died. Sister also passed away. Actually, Shambhunath had accidentally crossed the border from RS Pura sector in the year 2009. Pakistan Rangers caught him. He was first imprisoned for about one and a half years in the Interrogation Room of Gora Jail. Here in the dark room he was beaten daily and given all kinds of torture.
Shambhunath said- ‘I had crossed the border by mistake 13 years ago. I was first kept in Sialkot’s Gora Jail for one and a half years. A closed room, where it was dark. There he had to endure beatings and torture. There I was given food only once a day. A roti and lentils. Just… nothing else. Here it was even worse. They were treated worse than animals.’ Shambhunath further says, ‘After the death of Sarabjit Singh, there has been a slight difference in the jails of Pakistan.
At the same time, Shambhunath’s mother Satya Devi said, ‘I am very happy. My son has returned to me. I thought he must have died there. I thank God and Mother Rani. Its father is no more. He left this world while waiting for his son. Neither did his sister. Now I have only this. I will not let it go anywhere.
