Washington: Scientists keep doing new experiments and new revelations about space. This time the scientists of the US space agency NASA present in the International Space Station have made a surprising disclosure. Recently some astronauts harvested chillies in space and after growing they also harvested that crop. A press release said that PH-04 has set a new record by growing crops in space and making food dishes for astronauts.
The project to grow the crop in space began in June this year, when 48 disinfected black peppercorns were sown. NASA astronaut Shane Kimbrough gave water to the seeds sown on July 12. Astronauts did many tasks during this experiment. He removed the sprouts from the crop, and also gave enough space to each plant. When all the chilli plants were ready, at that time their size was equal to a large microwave oven.
According to the information, NASA’s Astronaut harvested the first crop of chillies on 29th October, according to this, it took a total of more than 4 months from sowing till the preparation of chillies. All the people of the campaign team also shared photos of chili and prepared food on social media.
NASA astronaut and Expedition 65 flight engineer Megan MacArthur used chili to add extra spicy flavor to a taco made from fajita beef, rehydrated tomatoes and artichokes. The enthusiasm of the chilli crop grown so far from the earth was visible in everyone. Megan McArthur also shared pictures of tacos with chili on her Twitter account. 12 chillies growing in the second crop of chillies were sent to the earth.
