New Delhi. Mumbai Indians, struggling with poor form, were once again disappointed by their batsmen. In the Indian Premier League (IPL) match, Punjab Kings defeated him by 12 runs on Wednesday. This is the fifth consecutive defeat of Rohit Sharma’s team. A target of 199 for victory seemed an easy target when young Devald Brevis ( 49 off 25 balls ) and NT Tilak Verma ( 36 off 20 balls ) were at the crease . Punjab bowlers, however, restricted Mumbai to 186 for nine in 20 overs. Odion Smith, who hit sixes in the last two balls against Gujarat Titans, took four wickets for 30 runs in four overs. Two of these wickets fell in the last over. With the win, Punjab Kings have reached the third place in the IPL points table. At the same time, Mumbai Indians is at the last position.

Mumbai will now have to win eight out of nine matches to avoid elimination and it seems impossible considering their weak bowling. The only positive thing for Mumbai was the batting of Brevis. He did not spare any bowler from Punjab. Brevis, popularly known as ‘Baby AB’, also took 29 runs in an over. He missed the half-century by just one run. At the other end, Tilak also left a mark of his performance.
