Shashi Tharoor started the campaign

Nagpur. Amid the election for the post of Congress national president, MP Shashi Tharoor on Saturday said that according to the Gandhi family there is no “official” candidate in the election and he will remain neutral in it. Tharoor visited the Deekshabhoomi memorial here in Maharashtra. After that, the party started its campaign for the election of the President. He and senior party leader Mallikarjun Kharge are in the fray for the post. If none of these nomination papers are withdrawn, then voting will be held.

Tharoor told the media here, “I had met the three members of the Gandhi family, Sonia, Rahul and Priyanka. He repeatedly told me that there is no official candidate for the election of party president and there will be no such candidate. They want a good and fair election. The Gandhi family will remain neutral and the party machinery will also be neutral. They want a good election and want to strengthen the party. I have no doubt when the party president has assured me.” Tharoor said all this when asked if Kharge was the Gandhi family’s favorite candidate.

Workers in my support – Tharoor
It is worth noting that now for the post of Congress President, only 80-year-old Mallikarjun Kharge and 66-year-old Shashi Tharoor will be contesting. In this election, Tharoor has told his claim to be strong. Tharoor claimed that while senior party leaders are standing with Mallikarjun Kharge, party workers from different states are supporting him. “It is a friendly contest here, we have many goals and we are seeking support for the elections. Many workers who want change in the party have asked me to contest elections. I want to be the voice of youth. I will give my best performance.
