New Delhi: Jaya Prada had worked in many films in different languages in a career spanning almost 30 years. He was born on 3 April 1962 in a middle class family.
Jaya’s father Krishna Rao was a Telugu film financier. According to media reports, Jaya Prada used to dream of becoming a doctor in her childhood. However, his mother got him enrolled in dance and music classes. She started taking training in dancing and singing from the age of 7.
When Jaya turned 14, actor Prabhakar Reddy named her Jaya Prada. She appeared in a 3-minute song in the Telugu film ‘Bhoomi Kosam’. After debuting in the Telugu film industry, she worked in around 300 films in 8 languages.
The great director Satyajit Ray once praised Jaya Prada’s beauty and described her as the most beautiful actress in Indian cinema. Her pairing with Jitendra was a super hit on the film screen. As per IMDb reports, they were cast opposite each other in 25 films, out of which 19 films were box office hits.
Jaya Prada, 61, became popular with the 1979 film ‘Sargam’, in which she played the role of a mute dancer. He also did a great dance in Amitabh Bachchan’s film ‘Sharabi’.
Jaya suffered a lot in the beginning of her Bollywood career due to not being able to speak Hindi. The 1982 film ‘Kaamchor’ was her first Hindi film, in which she was seen speaking Hindi fluently. She gave the most memorable performance in the film ‘Sanjog’, in which she appeared in the double role of mother and daughter.
Jaya Prada married film producer Srikanth Nahta in 1986, which surrounded her with controversies, as Srikanth was already married and had children from his first wife. The actress’s association with politics is very old. According to media reports, she was initially associated with the Telugu Desam Party, then joined the Samajwadi Party. He had joined the Bharatiya Janata Party in 2019.
