Delhi: In a major breakthrough, Delhi Police has arrested six members of the notorious Kaccha Baniyan Gang involved in a high-profile robbery in South Delhi. The accused were apprehended following an encounter in the Ambedkar Nagar area after looting jewellery worth lakhs from a residence in Malviya Nagar.
According to police officials, the incident took place on May 1 in Sarvodaya Enclave, where six masked men entered a flat late at night. The family members were asleep in separate rooms when the accused locked them inside and carried out the robbery. CCTV footage from the house captured two of the suspects moving around in undergarments, a known pattern associated with this gang.
After tracking their movement, police teams traced the suspects to Ambedkar Nagar. During the operation, some of the accused allegedly opened fire on the police team, prompting retaliation. Three suspects sustained bullet injuries in their legs before being overpowered and arrested.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Nirmal Pardi, Devin, Samar, Kaake, Krish, and Shivaji. Police sources revealed that all the accused are residents of Madhya Pradesh and are suspected to be involved in multiple robbery cases across Delhi in recent years.
The Kaccha Baniyan gang has a long history of criminal activities across India. Known for their distinctive method of committing crimes while wearing minimal clothing, the group gained notoriety in the 1990s and early 2000s due to a series of violent robberies.
Police officials stated that further investigation is underway to uncover the full extent of the gang’s operations and to determine their involvement in other unsolved cases.
