RJD leader Shivanand Tiwari abused and threatened on phone

Patna. A case of alleged abusing and threats to Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) supremo Lalu Yadav and senior party leader Shivanand Tiwari over phone has come to light. The unidentified person making the threat was upset with Shivanand Tiwari’s remarks about Veer Savarkar’s views on the cow. Let us tell you that Shivanand Tiwari had underlined the inherent contradiction in the reverence of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) family for Savarkar, whose views were against the sentiments of Hindus about the cow. In less than two minutes of video footage, Shivanand Tiwari commented on Savarkar’s different view on the cow.

Following this threatening phone call, the RJD leader shared with the media the response he had sent through a message to the person on WhatsApp. Tiwari said that from the tone of the person’s conversation, it seemed that he belonged to Delhi, Haryana or western Uttar Pradesh. He said that I have not lodged a complaint with the police. This is a different matter. But my experience reminds me of the dangers of giving communal color to the society.
The former Rajya Sabha member said that I said in my message to the caller that I am 78 years old, and his abuses were aimed at my mother (abuse), who had passed away years ago. I have advised the caller to consider his actions and do some ‘atonement’. He also said that he had said this after senior Congress leader Digvijay Singh sought media feedback on some of the views expressed about Veer Savarkar.
