A soldier of Bhalad village under Jwali sub-division was martyred while protecting the country on the outskirts. As soon as the family members got the news of his martyrdom, there was silence in the whole village. 51-year-old martyr Sepoy Onkar Singh son Kalu Ram was posted in 103 BSF Battalion at Tarn Taran in district Amritsar. Due to dense fog on the Indo-Pak border in Amritsar, firing was done from the Pakistani side, in which a Border Security Force jawan Onkar Singh was martyred.

The army contingent accompanying the martyr, and the police force saluted the martyr by firing in the air. Shaheed Onkar Singh has left behind 3 children and wife.
Nitish Dhiman, son of martyr Onkar Singh, lit fire to the martyr. Jawali MLA Arjun Singh also reached the martyr’s house and consoled the family of the martyr and saluted the martyr.
He said that the martyrdom of the martyr can never be forgotten. He assured the family that they will be supported in every happiness and sorrow. On this occasion, many people including Pradhan Mangal Singh, SHO Jawali Surinder Kumar bid farewell to the martyr with moist eyes.
