Police (Police )scuffle with wrestlers

New Delhi. A scuffle broke out between the international level wrestlers and the Delhi Police(Police ) who were staging a sit-in at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar for their demands at around 11 pm on Wednesday night. The video of this incident is going viral. Amidst the commotion, a tussle is seen between star player Bajrang Punia and the policemen. The wrestlers allege that due to the rain some beds were ordered at the picket site, but the police were not allowing them to be brought. He has complained about indecent behavior and abusing of Delhi Police personnel. The Delhi Police said that the beds were brought without permission and when they were stopped, the wrestlers manhandled the Delhi Police personnel.

Bajrang Punia said that the police are beating us, abusing us, misbehaving with women wrestlers but they are not taking any action against Brij Bhushan. People present on the spot say that folded beds were brought for the wrestlers protesting for their demands so that they could avoid the rain. When it was time to take these beds to the picket site, the Delhi Police personnel took objection and stopped them. Meanwhile, Aam Aadmi Party MLA Somnath Bharti has said that the Delhi Police has misbehaved with the wrestlers and such an attitude is absolutely wrong.

News agency ANI quoted DCP Pranav Tayal as saying that Aam Aadmi Party leader Somnath Bharti had reached the protest site and had brought beds without permission. His supporters turned aggressive on the Delhi Police and tried to remove beds from the truck. This led to some minor brawl and Somnath Bharti has been detained along with 2 others.
