PM Modi Focuses on Trade, Technology and Defense During Sweden Visit

Sweden: Narendra Modi focused on trade, technology, defense, innovation, and strategic cooperation during his two-day visit to Sweden. During delegation-level talks with Ulf Kristersson, both countries agreed to upgrade bilateral relations to a Strategic Partnership.

The two leaders discussed strengthening cooperation in trade, investment, green transition, space, emerging technologies, defense, security, research, and people-to-people ties. Bilateral trade between the two nations reportedly reached 7.75 billion US dollars in 2025.

Prime Minister Modi was also honored with the “Royal Order of the Polar Star, Degree Commander Grand Cross” for his contribution to India-Sweden relations and leadership.

Swedish Prime Minister Kristersson praised India’s rapid progress in digital transformation and artificial intelligence. PM Modi invited Swedish companies to expand investments in India, especially in infrastructure, logistics, and advanced technology sectors.

The visit also highlighted cultural connections between the two countries. Indian cultural performances, including Bharatanatyam and the bhajan “Vaishnav Jan To,” were showcased during the reception in Sweden.
