Paper leak not on a wide scale(Paper)

Delhi: NTA has filed an affidavit in the Supreme Court. The affidavit said that the irregularities in the NEET  (Paper) exam cited in the petition are limited only to some centers in Patna, Godhra. At the same time, the wrong methods used by some students to pass the exam at other places are a very rare incident in itself and have no connection with the rest of the incidents mentioned in the petition.
Paper leak not on a wide scale
The National Testing Agency (NTA) has filed an affidavit in the Supreme Court regarding the NEET-UG 2024 exam. NTA, after coming to know about the manipulation done by some individuals at some centers in Godhra and Patna, has assessed the performance of all the candidates appearing at the respective centers to conclude whether the manipulation at those centers has had any substantial impact, which may have a cascading effect. The NTA affidavit said that the performance data analysis done by NTA clearly indicates that the alleged manipulation has neither affected the sanctity of the entire examination nor has it given any unfair advantage to the students appearing at the centers in Godhra and Patna.

‘Students did not score such marks’
The affidavit further said that the performance chart of the students at the said centers shows that the performance of the students at these centers is neither abnormally high nor significantly different from the national average of the performance of the remaining centers at various places in the country. NTA says that the data prepared in this manner also shows that the students of the concerned center have not secured marks that make them eligible or entitled for admission to medical colleges of primary importance.

Response on Telegram video also
The affidavit further said that the Telegram videos allegedly showing pictures of the leaked paper are fake and manipulated. It said that NTA has also analyzed the distribution of marks of the candidates in NEET-UG 2024 at the national, state and city level and at the central level. This analysis shows that the distribution of marks is absolutely normal and there does not seem to be any external factor that would affect the distribution of marks.

The government also filed an affidavit
Also, the central government has filed an affidavit in the Supreme Court on the NEET case. The affidavit said that the data analysis done by IIT Madras did not show any abnormality or any mass disturbance. The Center has proposed a 7-member expert panel to consider the issues raised so that there is no such leak in future. The counselling process will be conducted in four rounds starting from the third week of July. If any candidate is found to have taken advantage of any fraud, then the admission of such a person will be cancelled at any stage during or after the counselling process.

No major irregularities have taken place
The central government has further said that Madras IIT has been requested to investigate the people involved in the fraud through data analysis. The data analysis of those who have scored high marks shows that no major irregularities have taken place. Because often the graph falls down quickly after rising up. That is, the graph is bell shaped.

The government is not in support of re-examination
The centre has said that it is ensuring that 23 lakh candidates are not burdened with re-examination on the basis of ‘unsubstantiated suspicions’. The central government has said that it is ensuring that no candidate guilty of taking advantage in an unfair manner gets any benefit.
