Padma Awards: On the eve of Republic Day, the Central Government has announced the Padma Awards. (Padma awards) In this, it has been decided to give Padma Shri to 34 personalities who have made significant contribution in various fields. In the year 1954, the Central Government had started Padma Awards. In the year 1955, it was named Padmashree, Padmabhushan and Padmavibhushan. This trend has been going on since then.
Padma awards are among the distinguished civilian honors of India. After the country’s highest civilian award ‘Bharat Ratna’, these Padma awards are given in three categories namely Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan and Padmashree.

Honor to the first female mahout
It has been announced that Parbati Baruah, a resident of Assam, will be given Padma Shri. She was the country’s first female elephant mahout, who stepped forward by breaking the stereotypes prevalent in the society. He started taming wild elephants at the age of 14. He has been selected for Padmashree in the field of social work (animal welfare).

Let us tell you that two days ago, on January 23, the Central Government has decided to give the country’s highest civilian honor ‘Bharat Ratna’ to the former Chief Minister of Bihar, late Karpoori Thakur. Last year, the President had approved 106 Padma awards. These included 6 Padma Vibhushan, 9 Padma Bhushan and 91 Padma Shri awards.
