Review of mobility enhancement, safety and infrastructural works of Northern Railway: General Manager

New Delhi: Shri Ashutosh Gangal, General Manager, Northern Railway reviewed the progress of work of Northern Railway with the Principal Heads of Departments and Divisional Railway Managers of Northern Railway. In the meeting, discussion on providing passenger amenities like expansion of platforms at stations, increase in level of platforms, provision of washable aprons, second entrance, foot-over bridges, escalators, facility of lifts for differently abled persons, improvement of station building with entrance Was done. They also reviewed mobility enhancement, developmental infrastructure, freight loading and safety on tracks.
Shri Gangal informed that for better utilization of rolling stock in freight transport, Northern Railway operated 1030 crack trains from 27.10.2022 to 02.11.2022. He said that more such trains would be run. He emphasized the need for better management of manpower and crew.
The General Manager directed to maintain a better record of punctuality of trains and to expedite the works related to increasing the mobility and to conduct campaigns to check the progress of the works. He reviewed the work being done on the zone to improve the maintenance standards of the tracks and welds and to remove the scrap lying near the tracks. The General Manager took stock of the work of pruning the trees and clearing the vegetation growing along the tracks. He stressed upon the need to closely monitor the punctuality of trains during the foggy season.
Shri Gangal stressed on minimizing human failures in rail operations and monitoring of rail cracks and rail welds closely. He said that there should be no error in these works. He asked the officers to increase the inspections related to the progress of works and rail operations.

He said that the loading of food grains and other items has increased with each passing month.
