New Delhi. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) (NIA i) on Wednesday raided 53 places linked to ‘listed terrorist’ Arsh Dalla and several dreaded gangsters. Pistols, ammunition, a large number of digital devices and incriminating material were seized during the raids conducted in Punjab, Delhi, Haryana, UP, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand and Union Territory Chandigarh. NIA says that this action has been taken on the nexus of terrorists-gangsters-drug smugglers. A total of 53 places were raided during the operation that started in the morning.
Apart from Arsh Dalla, these raids include notorious gangsters Lawrence Bishnoi, Sukha Dunake, Harry Maur, Narendra alias Lali, Kala Jatheri, Deepak Tinu etc. under the ambit of NIA investigation. This was the seventh in a series of such actions initiated by the NIA after the registration of five cases since August 2022, which also included two new cases registered against organized criminal gangs in July 2023. These cases relate to conspiracies of targeted killings and terrorist funding of supporters. It was claimed that Khalistani organizations and gangsters are involved in extortion. Many of them are lodged in various jails or are working from countries like Pakistan, Canada, Malaysia, Portugal and Australia.
With an aim to dismantle the terror-gangster-drug smuggler nexus, today’s raids focused on arms suppliers, financiers and logistics providers linked to various hardcore gangs and their operatives. These gangs are working with drug smugglers and terrorists based in countries like Pakistan, UAE, Canada, Portugal etc.
Builder- has murdered players
The NIA investigation has revealed that the conspiracies were being hatched in jails of various states and were being executed by an organized network of operatives based abroad. Notable among such conspiracies are the sensational murders of Maharashtra builder Sanjay Biyani, mining businessman Mehal Singh and international Kabaddi player Sandeep Nangal Ambia in Punjab last year.
Organizations running in India from abroad
According to the NIA investigation, many criminals and gangsters who were earlier leading gangs in India have fled abroad in recent years and are now carrying out their terror and violence related activities from there. These criminals are engaged in planning and executing serious crimes including contract and revenge killings in collaboration with criminals lodged in jails across India. These groups are carrying out targeted killings and raising funds for attacks and other nefarious activities through drugs and arms smuggling, hawala and extortion.
