In the five-day forecast, the IMD issued a yellow alert for parts of Mumbai, Thane and Palghar on all days till Thursday, indicating that isolated heavy rains are likely.
Private weather agency Skymet has also predicted heavy rain for the city till Thursday. An orange alert has been issued for parts of Raigad and Ratnagiri, indicating heavy to very heavy rainfall at some places.
According to private weather forecasting agency Skymet, between September 13 and 15, there is a possibility of heavy to very heavy rainfall in Mumbai city, its suburbs, Konkan and Goa. “There is a possibility of widespread flooding and waterlogging in these areas,” Skymet said in a statement on Sunday.
The rainfall recorded by Colaba and Santa Cruz observatories till 8.30 am on Sunday was 1.2 mm and 8.8 mm respectively.
