Multiple Explosions Rock Syria’s Damascus; Blast Reported Near French President Emmanuel Macron’s Hotel

Damascus, Syria: A series of explosions shook Syria’s capital, Damascus, on Tuesday, including one reported near the hotel where French President Emmanuel Macron was staying during his official visit. French authorities confirmed that President Macron is safe and that his visit is continuing as scheduled.

According to initial reports, the explosions occurred shortly after President Macron arrived at the Presidential Palace for talks with Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa. One of the blasts was reported near the Four Seasons Hotel, where the French delegation was staying.

Syrian state media, citing an unnamed security official, reported that at least two explosions in central Damascus were caused by explosive devices. Thick smoke was seen rising from the affected area, although officials have not yet released details about casualties or the extent of the damage.

The French Presidency stated that President Macron was not harmed in the incident and that there had been no changes to his official itinerary.

As of now, no group has claimed responsibility for the explosions. Syrian security agencies have launched an investigation, and authorities are working to determine the cause of the blasts and identify those responsible.

Officials are expected to release further information as the investigation progresses.
